Result report delivery

Efficient and timely reporting of results is critically important.

We send results to requesting medical practitioners by:

  • hard copy; or
  • electronically via Healthlink; or
  • by fax, when requested.

Abnormal results are usually telephoned or faxed.

Hard copies

Our dedicated team prints hard copy reports daily at two hour intervals between 9:30am and 10pm.  Hard copies are posted or delivered by the Aotea courier team to the requesting practitioner.

Electronic (HL7) results

The team electronically transmits results at two-hour intervals between 9:30am and 10pm daily, via the secure Healthlink system.

Troubleshooting electronic results

We routinely monitor the electronic transmission of results and we can identify where results have been posted electronically by our system but not received at their destination.  Our Information Systems specialist will alert you if there appears to be a problem sending a result.
