Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician, Cytology

Aotea Pathology provides world-class pathology services to the greater Wellington region.We are looking for a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician to join our busy and close-knit Cytology department.

What are we looking for?

As a qualified Scientist/Technician, you will be responsible for primary and secondary screening of gynaecological and some non-gynaecological samples, the reporting of results, and ensuring a smooth and efficient flow of work so we can provide accurate and timely results to referrers and patients. The majority of specimens processed by the department are SurePath liquid based samples for cervical screening purposes.

You will have a minimum of 3 years Cytology screening experience. Ideally this will include experience with Surepath and Automated Screening, and if you are a Scientist, it is preferable that you have successfully completed the VRPCC. However, more important is your customer focus, accuracy and desire for high quality results, your conscientious work ethic and your enthusiasm for working in an open team environment.

What are the Terms and Conditions?
This is a full-time permanent position of 40 hours per week. The normal hours of work are likely to be between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, and you will be based at our laboratory in the heart of the city on Courtenay Place.
